DEFORESTATION VASE COLLECTION

Deforestation Vase

In Brazil, the Atlantic forest (Mata Atlântica in Portuguese) is a tropical rainforest. This hot-spot of the planet’s biodiversity has been enormously reduced in size, and deforestation has turned it into one of the most endangered tropical forests in the world.

These cylindrical shaped vases - recalling tree trunks - is made up of an array of stamped tree ring patterns accumulated on its surface.

The Ultramarine Yves Klein blue colour on the cover symbolises forestry coding used by forest wardens to indicate trees that are to be saved. The colourful motifs evokes the topography of the tropical forest, where various sizes , shapes and colours of plants coexist.

The combination of colours on each vase (Ultramarine Blue + Color of Pattern) draws the viewer into our most basic human emotions just as nature affects us emotionally. Color and Nature evokes emotions.

There are ten different variations of coloured vases and they are produced as an open edition. There are two sizes of vase, small and large. A cold wax finish makes the surface of each vase very smooth resulting in a pleasant tactile experience. Top blue cover is delicate, so as to not alter its brightness it was applied without top coat as this special pigment is intended for this purpose. It is possible to handle it, but with care.

You may order the color of your choice and it is nice to have a big and a small vase with analogous colors and similar hues (Dark and Light Blue, Red and Orange…) sitting next to each other.
