Beautiful and Unique Chinese bronze cloisonné dragon pattern pen wash 笔洗 - Republic Period (1912-1949). It is in excellent original condition, no damage, no repair, in original vintage condition with wonderful and authentic aged patina. Chinese brush washers were created simultaneously alongside the emergence of calligraphic and ink painting practices in early China. Brush washers are essential tools for painters and calligraphers, used to remove excess ink from a paintbrush while painting or after the painting is completed. The Chinese certainly did not miss the opportunity to make this tool into a beautiful art object. This brush washer is decorated with an empowering design of an impressive colorful dragon.
