Rare Vase by Robert Picault Vallauris in White, Signed.

€2,500.00

Rare large enamelled ceramic vase with incised geometric decor. This particular one is in white which is more scarce as Robert Picault usually uses an array of colours in his ceramics and not often in white monochromatic scheme.

Every item of this renowned artists work is unique and would form a real statement piece in any serious mid century collection. With initials RP incised to the underglazed base.

About the Designer

Robert Picault studied ceramics at the Ecole des Arts Appliqués in Paris and moved to Vallauris where, with Roger Capron, he founded the Atelier Callis in 1946. Two years later he set up his own pottery in the Chemin du Fournas. He was a friend, colleague and next-door-neighbour to Pablo Picasso, and the two learnt from each other aspects of the other’s specialities. Picault was also an accomplished cinematographer, and made a series of short films with Picasso and leading show-business personalities of the fifties.
